Yeah Monarch up HW 50 from Pueblo may be the closest and there is also Taos in New Mex which really isn't that far away. Southern Colorado near the Front Range has not done well for skiing in the last several decades, the best skiing from Pueblo I'd say would be Wolf Creek or even Breckenridge (you can take the back way up through South Park)

HeatherS The roads from Pueblo to Breckenridge would be HW 50 through Canyon City and up the Arkansas River Valley to Salida--this road can get messy but gets plowed and is usually drivable because it is not a pass. Once you get on HW 285 that rolls though South Park then up Fairplay up up to Breckenridge the roads can definitely get messy and snowy and you would need to have a great SUV and be really comfortable driving in the snow and have some time on your hand. It is an adventure...but still better than taking I-70...uhhggg talk about ruining the spirit of skiing!

The closest ski resort is Monarch Mountain, which is near Gunnison - about a two / two and a half hour drive.
