People who have never actually roamed around Paterson Nj say its a slum, why?

What neighborhood isn't a slum?

If, I have to go to Paterson. I will drive on the outskirts (not thru, get lost too fast); then, drive directly in to where I need to go. Yes, I have seen the nicer section of Paterson ( years ago).
