"Nice Place to Live"

I lived on this street for about eight years. I would not say it was my favorite place to live but it was nice none the less. Your neighbors are super close to you and there is a lot of noise. I felt pretty safe when I lived there but would not walk around by myself at night. This street is ecletic and busy.

"Great for kids to go to school."

Ortega Street is a really peaceful and nice street to live on. It is like a typical street in the Sunset. The houses are typically two stories and usually have a gate outside that leads into a walkway, then to the main door of the house. This is a really great street to live on if you have children because you are very close to many schools, such as AP Giannini Middle School, which is on the same street. If you go off a few blocks, you will find Robert Louis Stevenson Elementary School. The Ortega Public Library is right on the same street, and it’s a very modest-sized, but comfortable library with very nice librarians.

"School and a Park annnd... Thats it"

This street is very quiet, but on weekday afternoon, its gets pretty busy because all the A.P. Giannini Middle school kids get off school during that time. The school is also connected to a library, the Oretega Branch of the SF Public Library. It is nice and small, and in 2009, it is going to go under renovation. Besides the school and the library, the street is a quiet, mostly residential, street.

"A school, park, library, great place to go for peace and quiet during a weekend"

Ortega Street is a residential street that runs from the Great Highway to 8th Avenue, on this street, you’ll find A.P. Giannini Middle School on 39th Avenue, and the Sunset Water Resevoir on 28th Avenue. Next to A.P. Giannini is West Sunset Playground and the Sunset Library. The playground is a great place to exercise and do recreational sports as there is a playground for young children, basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts for the teenagers, adults, and elders. The library has a vast variety of books for everyone to read and to borrow. After school hours during the week day, Ortega Street (around 38th to 41st Avenue) tends to be very noisy as many school kids go home in groups with their friends. Although there are no restaurants on Ortega Street, you will find many on the next street, Noriega.

"Basically straight through to the beach."

Ortega Street is my favorite street to take when I need to cross all the avenues from my house. It is a straight shot from 14th avenue all the way down to the beach. The only detour you have to make is before 14th avenue, it winds around a large hill that is in the way but straightens out again on 11th avenue and ends on 8th avenue. It runs in the Outter Sunset, Inner Sunset and W. Twin Peaks districts. The houses start out a lot nicer, bigger and more expensive towards the east and get less unique and smaller as you go westward. It runs by St. Ignatius Academy and the very large Sunset Reservoir. This is a very easy street to drive down, there is never any traffic. There is such a wide variety of housing on this street it is hard to make recommendations as to who should live where.
