What Winter Clothes Do You Wear?

During winter we all have to dress up to bear the cold weather. Some people have thick skin and don't dress up with so many layers of clothes on. Some people need a lot of layers.

I, for one, need a lot of layers in order for me to be protected from the cold. What about the rest of you. What do you put on in order to keep yourself warm while outside in winter?

I pick up those French wool berets they sell for $5 a pop on 96th and 86th streets by the subway! They keep me warm AND stylish, and I can put my hair all up in them and use it as a rain hat if it starts to rain, or just warm my ears if it's nippy but sunny. Warm gloves - also purchased on the street, I might add. An enormous coat with faux-fur lining.

But I really do recommend the hats! Best way to keep warm I can think off. Oh, and a scarf thick enough that you can pull it up over your nose if it gets REALLY bitter and your extremities start turning pink...

@hhusted when I first moved here my better half kitted me out with a shearling coat. At that time I thought it was too excessive because the following winters were actually quite balmy . However since last year I have been blessing him since my shearling has kept me warm and toasty during these nasty NYC winters. Of course in addition to my coat I always wear a sweater, a hat, gloves, tall cashmere socks , a big woolen scarf and boots to ward off the freezing cold.
