Vespa Riding
Any Vespa / scooter owners out there? I just went on my first Vespa ride through the city and it was such an amazing way to see it! We were ripping through the streets at night and it was beautiful! Now, I totally want one . . .

@JenMac Do you feel that New Yorkers can handle Vespa traffic? I'd be afraid some crazy driver would take me out on one.

@Neversleeps, yeah I was pretty scared for the first while. People changes lanes quite like crazies in the city and we were whipping through the streets. But, for the moments I wasn't scared, it was really incredible. All the lights whizzing by, the people, little blasts of music you hear. . .

Ah! As a driver I always fear for the lives of those on motorcycles and the like. And I can't believe how crazy some of those drivers on Vespas, etc, can be. They often weave in and out of traffic or head to the front of the line at a red light - great way to get yourself knocked right off those things. And, yeah, the rest of the city changes lanes like crazy people for sure.

A Vespa is what you'd want if you were driving through the wine country in Southern France on a summer afternoon, but NYC? I mean, they're cute and sexy and all, but you'd have to have a death wish to brave the Manhattan traffic with one. That's just me.

That's interesting. I never saw the scooters. Where are they located? Do they have one central location? As for riding one, that would be detriment to suicide in this city, considering how crazy people are driving in this city.

Can you rent Vespa's in NYC? Where at? Can you do it at night, too??

I tried finding a place to rent them. If you can, it's definitely not convenient. I'm pretty sure that everyone who rides a Vespa owns theirs. You have to have a motorcycle license to ride one because they can be quite dangerous. But, it is really exciting and a great way to see the city.
