Really, Bucharest? I was there in 96 and it seemed pestilent, dirty, a total chaos of starving people, abandoned dogs running around everywhere and a collapsed sense of the social order. It didn't seem like there was any law of the land, just rampant criminality and normal people not quite sure how to deal with the surge of commercialism and money scams. Has it changed so much?

Its true that Bucharest is still chaotic, but after spending months in Romania traveling back and forth from the city, I fell in love with it.

I grew up in Paris and Rome alongside NYC and I love both cities. They're both far more "beautiful" than New York City - that said, I've found that NYC has an absolutely fascinating edge of energy and excitement that surpasses that of any other city - NYC, being so international, multicultural, and diverse, tends to have such a variety of neighborhoods/nightlife/restaurants/options that it never feels limiting, unlike a relatively homogenous city like Rome.
I'll put in good words for Vienna and for my newfound home, Oxford, England, as well! Absolutely can't stand London though! It's like someone stepped on New York and made it that much denser through lack of vertical space. Also, bad food and prices that really aren't worth it!

1. Orlando, Fl
2. Las Vegas, NV
3. Gettysburg, PA
4. Salem, VA
5. NYC, NY
It is interesting to see the list of favorite places. We all have our taste in what we like and don't like.
