Real Estate That You Can Rent for $2200 a Month

Does anyone have a budget where they can pay $2200 a month for rent? If so, you will be happy to note that NY1's Shazia Khan filed a report stating there are places where the rent is at this price, with plenty of amenities thrown in.

Check it out here: http://www.ny1.com/7-brooklyn-news-content/ny1_living/112554/what-nyc-real-estate-can-you-rent-for--2200-/

Of course, if you are like me with a much lower budget, you have to go where the price is lower.

Either way, I think that if you can get a really good deal and they offer a lot in return, that may be worth the price.

Not bad! The three bedroom in Hamilton Heights looks like a particularly good deal. Alas, if I were looking, I'd be in the market for a studio. Anyone got any ideas for places to look for inexpensive studios? It seems that proportionally they're much, more expensive than any other kind of apartment or house.

I think that many landlords rate their studio apartments as one bedrooms just to get the opportunity to charge more than what studios would normally go for. At least this is what my landlord did to the studios in this building.

@ajadedidealist I have friends who use the website -http://www.nofeerentals.com/apartments.asp to look for apartments. They do have studios listed as well though the rates seem to be upwards of $1500 depending of course on location.

Being currently in the looking phase for a new apartment, I can attest to the fact that 2010 is teh year of the renter (I think 2009 was supposed to be the year of the renter, but now it's even more the year of the renter). Prices are falling, falling. You can get a lot more for the same price now.

Interestingly, the people who haven't caught on are the ones who normally rent out a couple of rooms in a private apartment to supplement their income, or sometimes to cover the entire cost of their rent. I hate the idea of being someone else's money pig! Anyway, those people are posting ads, and getting few to none responses, and having trouble generally finding people to fill those extra rooms, willing to pay the same old high prices. And YET, of the ones I've talked to, they all refuse to go down in price, as though the reality of the situation hasn't quite hit them, and they firmly believe they'll still find some renters at the last minute. My humble prediction? Summer rental prices will go on clearance mode.
