Check Out Lines

I would like to conduct a survey. This concerns check out lines in stores. There is one thing I noticed when going to grocery stores is that the speed lines are slower than the regular lines. Has anyone noticed that recently? Or has this been going on for years. It just seems ironic that a store with a fast line should get you through and out the store quickly, compared to the regular lines.
