Census 2010

During this past week my household has received not one but two Census 2010 forms. I have not opened them but have just lumped them with my other unopened mail. Now this article says I should fill them and send them back if I want to be counted as a NYer.

Have you received your form? have you filled it as yet?

Yes, Uptowngirl, and according to the message on the envelope, it says filling them out is a requirement, not an option.

Got mine and it's done. Yes, you should fill it out. It helps everybody to do so, plus saves the government billions in costs to follow up. Think of it like this: the money they don't have to spend sending someone to knock on your door and ask you the questions is money better spent on needed social programs.

I'm glad I read this. I've never filled out a census and I was totally about to throw mine away.

Apparently it's being treated as a hot-button conservative/constitutional issue - it's interesting!

@Everyone: I filled out mine today and mailed it. So I did my civic duty.

Do you want to know what is really weird about the form? If you read it correctly, question 1 states how many people lived at the same place on April 1st. April 1st hasn't even come yet. How do they know who will live in the home that day. Hey, I answered the question that I would be here that day, but the question was written incorrectly from a grammar perspective. I wonder who created the census questions anyway. I wonder if it was a high school or college drop out.

@hhusted maybe you are supposed to fill it after April 1st?met a friend for drinks yesterday and even she had filled hers and sent it in but she is an eager beaver who is anal about everything and anything.
