Art & Politics

Here's a short article about the pay-politics of the Met Opera, which has had to make cuts in the last couple of years:

Maybe the title of this post should have been Politics in Art.

Interesting article @Uraniumfish, thanks! It's a pity that politics and money play such a huge role in the arts - but then again, without the money, plenty of these fascinating events couldn't happen! Volpe sounds like quite a sound character, though; here's to hoping he's able to solve the crisis!

I'm always really interested in the role that politics play in the arts; it's also interesting to think about who gets to decide what is art and what is not.

Actually, it seems politics plays an active role in many things that deal with this city. If only politics could stay out of it, maybe this city would be a better place to live. What you people think?
