A fall out of the recent earthquakes or just a coincidence?

Have you noticed the Ready.gov adverts in the papers and around town? NYC has its own dedicated site under its office of Emergency Management-http://www.nyc.gov/html/oem/html/get_prepared/ready.shtml. The site lists the many ways that we can be prepared for emergencies in NYC like Hurricanes, flooding, snow storms etc. Is NYC ripe for a natural disaster? I know we discussed the creation of a disaster kit in another post but looks like the government wants us to be prepared for any eventuality just incase...

It's not a bad idea to drill emergency preparedness into people every once in a while. Even if it seems most of us only half-listen, when the time comes, it's amazing how much of that stuff comes back to you.

@Uraniumfish call me superstitious but I got a bit spooked when I saw the advert on a bus stand it was as if was harbinger of doom...of course I wish nothing bad happens here ...

No doubt related to the recent tragedies. It's not always bad to remember that we are not invulnerable, although it's inadvisable to live in fear, either

@Everyone: It is a known fact that NYC lies on a fault line. It is a very small and weak one, but nonetheless it is there. Each day it builds up steam. One day, that fault line will move and when it does, it will generate an earthquake of such magnitude that at least half of NYC will crumble. This earthquake has been predicted to occur by 2015. But, according to scientists, it could happen at any time. Maybe what you are reading in newspapers and online is a warning. Perhaps the big wigs of this city knows something we don't. So it is best to get yourself prepared just in case.

I have a couple of friends who are real conspiracy theorists. They say that there are all kinds of things pointing to underground bunkers for chosen people to live in when this big disaster happens that the government already knows about. It's supposed to be in the next couple of years .. . according to my crazy cohorts.

@JenMac Wow. How do you react when your cohorts start in on the conspiracy theory talk?
