Locust Valley is situated on the North Shore of Long Island on the Long Island Sound. Consequently, there are lots of beaches nearby in Glen Cove, Lattingtown, Locust Valley, Bayville and Center Island. There are Life Guards on duty during summer hours. In addition to swimming, many people enjoy sailing, canoeing and kayaking off the shore. Teddy Roosevelt Park in Oyster Bay, which is 10 minutes away, has a boat launch, tennis courts, basketball courts, a baseball field, barbecue grills, a very large playground and, of course, a beach!
