"A cool little town in the mountains"

There has always been something I've loved about Kremmling. I think it has to do with the fact that although it's in the heart of northern Colorado, it has a very unique and special feel to it. It's so close to the mountains and although it's roughly 2,000 feet above Denver's elevation, it just seems almost out of place. On the outskirts of town you can see these dry desert looking bluffs which give it a feel of desert living. You can almost see Kremmling as a town in Arizona's dry desert, if it weren't for the greenness coming from the river nearby. Unlike much of the rest of the mountainous state which is abundant with Evergreen and Aspen, there are a lot of Cottonwood here.

Just under 1,450 people call Kremmling home, with over 85% of the population being white. The most common industry in Kremmling is public administration, followed by construction. The average median income here is just a couple hundred dollars less than the state average for Colorado, although home prices here are considerably lower, making Kremmling have a really good cost of living. In addition to lower home prices, there are many acres of land for sale here, all which are considerably less than you'll find in many other areas of Colorado.

As for the schools in Kremmling, they all rate average or above average when compared to other schools in the state. There is a pretty low crime rate here also. I would recommend Kremmling for anyone looking to live near the mountains who wants a good cost of living, and a nice small community.
Pros

  • access to mountains
  • private feel
Cons
  • dusty windy many days of the year

"Kremmling feels like a dusty old wild west town"

The town of Kremmling feels like your in Wyoming, there are buttes and an open desert like feel to the area. There are mountains all around but the land where the town sits is actually pretty flat. It is a cowboy town and its pretty small but there are big ranches and big views all around.

The valley is where the Blue River and Muddy Creek join the headwaters of the Colorado River, then together the rivers unite and move west carving through Gore Canyon. This is a famous place for whitewater rafting and kayaking, this is where the Colorado River gets really wild and starts cutting its way west joining forces with tributaries along the way. Kremmling is seems kind of like a gateway into the more wild inaccessible mountain canyons and forests and was the reason why the town was founded.

If you are looking for ranchland for cattle, horses or even buffalo the Kremmling area would be a great place to look. Along the riverways and creeks there are some beautiful patches of green land and seclusive ranches. The cost of land is much more reasonable than super touristy Summit County to the south or the Steamboat area farther northwest.

The town has some restaurants, gas stations and places to get grocery and farming/camping gear. There is a great little Mexican restaurant that I stop at on my way to or from Steamboat Springs. The place really does have a wild west feel like an old saloon, there is an old fashion feel about it.
