"An excellent alternative to living in Greeley"

Kersey is a small town with 1,454 residents. It lies just southeast of Greeley which is about a 15 minute drive away. The most common industries here are construction, health care, and education. The median home price in Kersey is $157,000, which is considerably lower than the state average of $237,800. The median household income level is, however, just slightly below the Colorado average of $55,430 at $53,522. That being said, the cost of living in Kersey is very good with lower home prices and higher income levels. While there isn't much in the way of shopping or dining out, with Greeley being so close Kersey would be a great place to raise a family in a small town, but still have access to a much larger city nearby that offers many amenities, shopping and dining options, theater, and a really good college.

Children who live in Kersey attend schools in the Platte Valley School District. These schools, from the elementary to the high school, all rate about average when it comes to state standardized testing scores. When it comes to parents rating the schools, teachers, and administration, the marks are a bit higher, with most parents liking the schools. Another bonus to Kersey is the crime rate here is below the national average, which is excellent when compared to Greeley. Some years the crime rate in nearby Greeley is well above the national average, so living just out of the bigger city has advantages, especially when it comes to Kersey.

Overall, I would recommend Kersey for it's small town feeling, good schools, cost of living, and great home prices. It is an especially good place for families and retirees.

"Kersey--a small, quiet country town in eastern Colorado"

Kersey is a little cowboy town east of Greeley out on Colorado's high plains. The town originated in the 1880's as a stop along the Union Pacific Railroad line, Kersey was the stop between the neighboring towns of Julesburg and LaSalle.

The town is small and there are some cool houses along the main roads near "downtown". The place seems really nice and would be a good place to raise a family especially if you worked in agriculture in the acres and acres of surrounding farmland. The schools in Weld County have a good reputation and Kersey is no exception.

There are two new subdivisions in Kersey that are great middle class neighborhoods Kohler subdivision and Berryman Farms. Greeley and Fort Morgan are close by and wouldn't be a bad commute. If you are looking for a small, quiet country town in eastern Colorado check Kersey out.
