"West LA College and Gone with the Wind"

Jefferson is the neighborhood just to the west of West LA College. It stretches up along Jefferson Blvd. to the north which is made up largely of squat office buildings that house the headquarters of private businesses and of the local affiliate of National Public Radio.

One of the main draws of the neighborhood is Culver City Park, a cool hillside park offering views all the way to Marina Del Rey—if you hike to the top. It also has a skateboard area, a dog park, basket ball courts and the whole deal. People from the surrounding areas actually forego their own crummy parks to come experience this one.

Just to the west of West LA College is a large 400+ unit gated condominium community named Tara Hills. It dominates Jefferson, making up just about 95% of all housing in the area, as far as I can tell. Because it is a gated community it is hard to say who exactly lives here, but by the appearance of the condominiums, I would guess that many of them date to the 80’s which probably means that many of the residents are retirees who bought them during the last housing craze back when Ronnie was Prez. The tracks between houses are mostly likely well kept and residents have pools and other amenities offered to them. One interesting thing about the place, however is that this is where much of Gone with the Wind was shot. The complex is actually named after the doomed plantation home in that film.

West LA College is a solid community college in the area. Of course, since it is in the LA area, you will also find a strong offering in film courses, including some offering practical knowledge for those who would like to learn the technical aspects of being on a set.

If you liked planned living or want to take community college classes this may be just what you need.
