Irving Park has a couple tiny parks, but the main one you're going to want to check out is Horner Park. It's pretty nice and nearby.

Horner Park, which is over 50 acres is a great place for kids, with softball fields, playgrounds, and plenty of recreational areas. California Park is another great park nearby--it features the only Chicago Park District indoor ice rink and tennis courts.
