Sub areas of Irving Park?-Parts of Irving Park that are most walkable (to parks and grocery store)

Sub areas of Irving Park?-looking for recommendations for parts of Irving Park that are most walkable (to parks and grocery stores). Streets names/blocks appreciated. Looking to move toward city with a nice neighborhood feel where I can walk out my door and head out on foot.Planning to visit Smoque for lunch one weekend and explore from there-it that's an option. I know it's not the Southport corridor but that kind of main strip/street people might head toward for coffee shop/etc.Thanks!

Irving Park is starting to develop a bit more of an identity these days, with some nicer areas, and more younger people in the neighborhood in general. You don't mention kids so I figure schools are a top priority. You do mention Smoque, which is just South of the Kennedy Expressway on Pulaski Rd, and while you should check that out (I can't remember the last time I was there, so I should check it out too!), but I wouldn't want to live too close to that. Too close to the expressway and it can get loud. I'd suggest going a bit North of the Kennedy to the area around Independence Park. Avers Ave or Springfield Ave are nice, and live close to Elston, which borders both of them, to get a little further from the Kennedy. You'll be within walking distance of the park, a Walgreens, Hot Woks for Sushi, and a Farmer's Market Garden Center. If you want the main street of Irving Park that's either Montrose or Lawrence, but I'd live a little South of them closer to Elston. I hope this helps!
