Hyde Park, Chicago - any areas to avoid?

Not really. Overall Hyde Park is very safe and clean, but you may need to be cautious at times. There is a campus there after all, and at night there are enough stories about problems to make sure to be careful.

Hyde Park is a pretty safe area - you should be fine anywhere you go here.
