Any prominently Polish neighborhoods left in Chicago?

I'm looking for a decent neighborhood to rent in that can be considered relatively safe. My mother, grew up close to Humboldt Park on Hamlin Avenue in the 1960s-1970s. At the time, the neighborhood had a lot of people of Slavic descent, as well as Puerto Ricans. There was quite a bit of gang activity back then, but I've heard they've cleaned the area up a bit. Anyone live in the area? How is it now? Anyone have any suggestions? How about Hamlin Park or Lincoln Park?

Try Garfield Ridge, far west on Archer Ave. goes to Harlem Ave., Chicago’s west border. Midway airport nearby. Downside is flights over neighborhood.
