Things to do in Bowery, New York City - any tips from locals?

There's a great show every 1st Wednesday of the month at Bowery Poetry Club called Sacapuntas. It's a comedy show and the lineup is always stellar. Peels has a great Sunday Brunch, Blue and Cream is a great boutique, Slainte is a great football bar, and DBGB is a pretty good restaurant. Also the Public Theatre is on Lafayette and they are one of the best in the City. Von (technically in Nolita) is right across Bowery on Bleecker and it's one of my favorite bars in the city.
