"Arriba is a little town near Kansas off I-70"

Only 60 miles from the Kansas border along I-70, the little town of Arriba is a hot dusty town in summer and cold and dry in winter as well. The high plains are not the most forgiving place but there are spring and fall days and starry winter and summer nights that makes this a great and peaceful place out in the country.

Arriba is way to far from the Front Range and Denver to commute so most people who live in Arriba are involved in the local government or school district, in the trucking industry or agriculture. There are only about 200 people there and the average yearly income is only about 25,000, this is a humble little high plains interstate town.

There is also a clown museum in Arriba:)
Pros
  • low housing costs
Cons
  • few jobs
  • high poverty rate
  • some old neglected buildings

"An agricultural town on the eastern I-70 corridor"

Arriba is a small town with a population of just 194. It resembles many small towns on the eastern side of Colorado in that there are fields of wheat growing nearby and you can tell when you're getting close to town because you can see the water tower or grain elevators. This town is far away from the front range there are no views of the beautiful rocky mountains. The summers here are hot and dry and the winters are cold and windy.

A good portion of the residents work in retail, typically driving to Limon which is only about 20 minutes away. Transportation and agriculture are also common industries here. As with many smaller towns the cost of living is very good, and although the wages are low so are the home prices. The median household income in Arriba is $26,908. Unfortunately, almost 24% of the population here lives below the poverty rate. Home prices reflect income and you can purchase a median priced home here for $90,000.

When you drive through town there is a sense of neglect in many areas. There are homes and buildings here which look as if they should have been torn down years ago. There are also some cute little homes though. You can feel the charm of years gone by when you're here, but that charm is no longer present overall.
Pros
  • low housing costs
Cons
  • few jobs
  • some old neglected buildings
  • high poverty rate
