E 19th Street? The best?

I've seen E 19th street be at the top of the best streets list for quite a while now, and was wondering if anyone else has anything else to say about E19th street, or their own streets! I know of some pretty cool streets in NYC myself. My personal favorite is Stone Street :)

I'd like to see what other people's opinions are!

I don't live on E 19th but I'd say it would be up there - Gramercy Park area is awesome! You feel like your out of the city chaos. Personally, if money we're no object I'd take something on the Upper East side, around Central Park/Park Avenue.

E 19 is okay - it's near Union Square, which is always very pleasant...I enjoy parts of the East Village a fair bit more than the West Village...

The area is nice, but I feel like there's not as much of a neighborhood vibe to it as other areas . . and, the nightlife arena isn't so hot, in my opinion.

Yeah. True that E 19 is sort of in this nebulous space between East Village proper and Gramercy - but being near Union Square must be so convenient for so many reasons: great restaurants, shops, bookstores, and more...

I love the East Village, but I feel like once you get too north in it, it's really not all that neighborhoody. The east side of downtown is kind of weird that way, to me. . .

@JenMac How north? I love the areas in and around 9th and 10th Streets.

@AJ the area around Gramercy Park and Irving Place which is on E19th Street is indeed very pretty, green and quiet .. its very old world New York though it provides easy access to more crowded and busy areas like Union Square and the East Village both areas known for their numerous shopping and dining options.

@Uptowngirl: I concur that Gramercy Park is very pretty. My girlfriend and I went through there over the weekend and enjoyed it.

@neversleeps: I meant from like 10th to 20th. Ya know, like the stuy town and surrounding areas.

@JenMac: We went by Stuy Town and thought the buildings looked ugly on the outside. We ran into a friend of my girlfriend, who said the inside has been completed renovated and includes many amenities. Of course the rent is very high as well.
