Does Wappinger have any significan history?

It has history for sure, but I'm not sure I'd call it significant. The Grinnell Library is the 6th oldest in New York (opened in the 19th Century) and Mesier Park dates back a similarly long way, but you're not going to find big stuff like a Washington's Headquarters or major battles that took place there.
