"Rundown ghetto of a suburb"

What can I say about Streamwood, IL...It's definitely a city that I was glad to leave behind. Many leave the big city to escape to a nice family-friendly safe haven in the Suburbs. I'm afraid that you will find many of the same problems in this small town. The town has a very run down feeling overall. The only thing to do while I was living there was go to the movies, but the theater has since closed. There are no high quality sit down restaurants. It's often too dangerous to go to be out alone at night. There is really no reason to ever want to visit here. If you can, avoid moving here at all costs.

"Small Town Illinois"

I have lived in this west suburban hide-away for over 20 years. In this time, what was once a small boring town has developed into the perfect place for families and young adults alike. It has the perfect mix of new and old. There are historical buildings with roots in the town's founding in the late 1800's. These are intermingled with brand new shops within the downtown. There's really something for everyone. You can enjoy a nice day in the park with your kids or a nice romantic dinner with cocktails with your significant other. Also, when you tire of the quiet suburban charm, downtown Chicago is a quick train ride away. The surrounding suburbs also have large malls and pretty much anything you could imagine. In recent years the cost of living has sky-rocketed, though there are still many of us enjoying our simple middle class life. If you have kids they would attend a school within district U-46, the largest school district outside of Chicago. This small town is really for anyone.
