"Just an Average Neighborhood If you Ask Me...."

Pretty average neighborhood. Some really clean buildings and then you'll see some rundown ones. Pretty busy area, a lot of traffic. Not somewhere I'd want to live just because there's not much to do there. There are a few places you can go to get out of the house, but it's not really anything special. If you plan on moving to the Bronx I suggest you look up other neighborhoods if you're the type of person who likes to do things on a regular occasion.

"Good Neighborhood!"

E Kingsbridge is actually one of my fav neighborhoods in the Bronx. My cousin lives there and we meet up there often to go hang out and stuff. Most areas of it are pretty clean. Of course you'll find the occasional graffiti stained buildings but all and all it's a nice place. There are a few good shops there and a handful of good restaurants. I just like it cause it seems like a friendly area and the people people much keep to themselves and you dont have beggers coming up to you out of the blue asking for spare change. I know the building my cousin lives in is pretty quiet, not a lot of parties or loud noises, fights, anything like that. I wouldnt mind living there.

"Nice Area, Worth visiting"

This neighborhood is actually pretty clean, friendly, and offers awesome shopping and food. It's not your typical Bronx neighborhood, it's actually probably considered a "rich" neighborhood. At least you dont have to worry about getting your purse snatched from you while strolling the streets. The people I have met there were very friendly, especially the shop owners and waitresses and waiters. Of all the neighborhoods in the Bronx this one would definitely be on my list of ones to live in!

"Lots of good food, Shops"

You'll find a lot of good restaurants on Viele Ave. There are some good seafood places and also a few nice little shops you can browse if you're bored or whatnot. The streets arent super clean, but that's not anything too bad seeing how most streets in the city arent super duper clean. There is a lot of traffic, a lot of noise. The sounds of honking Taxi horns echo throughout the day. You'll find a lot of bicyclists on the streets. Overall it's a pretty good neighborhood. I wouldnt mind spending a day there just eating and looking around.

"Same as E Tremont--Don't go there!"

W Tremont is basically the same as E Tremont. Low income families, high crime, dirty streets. It's not worth going to unless you want your wallet stolen (check my post on E Tremont for THAT story!) Yeah there are a good deal of dirty little shops and restaurants, but they dont offer a good retail shopping experience. There is a lot of traffic, lots of homeless beggers on the street corners, and just a bleak neighborhood. The last time I was there the only thing I thought about was getting home and taking a shower!

"Not very safe"

I have been through E Tremont Ave a few times. It is pretty much made up of a lot of low income families, rundown buildings, and shady looking buildings. The streets are pretty much filled with people looking for a quick buck, be it through theft or selling drugs. I know this because my brother is a police officer in the area and there is a lot of crime activity in this area. I know from personal experience that you should watch your wallet or purse on this street, as there are pick pocketers who are very skilled at this. One evening around 7:00pm a friend and I were walking down Tremont (going to pick up something I found for sale on Craigslist, which was actually a big mistake and shouldnt have even made the trip there), and a guy approached me asking if I had a couple dollars to spare so he could get a cup of coffee. I told him no and kept walking. The next thing I knew he bumped into me from behind, said sorry, and just ran off past the front of me. A few minutes later I checked my backpack and the front was open, my day planner was hanging out. He had gotten away with a small coin purse I had had, which had about $40 in cash folded up inside. After that we didnt even make the attempt at finding the residence we were looking for. I just called my brother who was on patrol that night and alerted him to the theft. Of course the guy and my $40 was never found.

"Not great, Not bad either"

I'm familiar with Morrison Ave because my mom likes to visit the Flun Ton Fish Market there. I don't really know how to describe the street other than to say it's not a great neighborhood, but not a bad one either. Some places look a little on the "dirty", rundown side. Then there are a few houses that are pretty decent. It's one of those streets where you get a mix of good and bad I suppose. I don't think I'd want to live there, though I suppose if I found a great house at a great price I would probably jump on it. The street its self is close to some other booming neighborhoods with good shopping areas.

"Lively Ave"

There are lots of nice shops and such on Webster. It's a busy street, but there's a lot to do. I usually dont like noisy, crowded places but I think I would enjoy living on Webster because the atmosphere is upbeat. It's like main New York City living in a downsized package. Webster Ave Pizza serves up some of the best pie I've ever eaten! Tell them to make it well done, that's the best!

"Noisy and Busy 24/7"

Elgar PL is situated within towering office and commercial buildings. The atmosphere is very busy and noisy as there is a lot of pedestrian activity in that area amongst the businesses. It is right on the Hutchinson River and the trains going by are quite noisy. It's an average place to eat and shop. I wouldnt want to live around that area though just because I like quiet places.

"An average neighborhood"

My grandma is living at the Providence Rest Home on Waterbury St. so my family and I go there often to visit her. Waterbury street is a decent neighborhood. There are a lot of nice, well kept homes. My parents were looking to relocate to this area and were looking at some homes priced in the $300-$400,000 range. There are a few shops and an awesome ice cream shop that serves the best frozen yogurt. I like this neighborhood as it is the perfect family setting.

"Couldnt even visit my friend"

While attending college I had a friend who lived on E 122nd street. She would complain all the time that she could never get rest because her neighbors in her building were too noisy, having parties, arguing, etc. The cops were a regular show at her building as well. Very violent. One night she invited me and a few other people over to discuss an essay that we needed for English Lit class. On the way there we passed by #1. A guy pissing on the street. He had his "package" out peeing right out in the open. It was disgusting. #2. A homeless guy that followed us for half a block asking for money. and #3. A fight had actually broken out in front of my friend's building between a group of guys. We only stayed at her place for 30 minutes before deciding to head to the student library to finish our essays. It was just too noisy! No way will I ever go back into that neighborhood!
