I has been living here for all of my life, when people think of Hawthorne they think "Beach boys" Although they grew up here in the 50s/60s in a great neighborhood, unfortuantly after the Watt's Riots it started going downhill, LA Riots had caused too much crime in the neighborhood. Now it isn't the best idea to walk around alone in the area of Hawthorne or Del Aire. It is now a crime riddled place with many gangs a few being LWS 13, 310 Boyz, Bishop Bloods, etc. (LWS13 and 310 Boyz being most active.) Although our Housing projects are improvng a bit and police are trying there best to do there job to get as much crime out as possible, it will be a few years until i can call it a nice neighborhood. (Remember I was a young kid doing many stupid things, of course I know about all this stuff.) I hope the youth see the impact they can make in our neighborhoods, Unfortuantly most don't listen. I highly suggest you do not wear gang realated clothing and keep it very simple if you are ever to travel here. I know people who have been killed over a few words. If you are to come here just act nice, and do not act aggressive, best of lucks!
