"Quiet -- but not safe"

The best thing about this street is its proximity to everything. Reston Town Center and other centers are very close and getting here from all directions is very easy. It seems relatively quiet and peaceful, but that can be decieving. One should check the recent police report prior to relocating. Burglaries and incidents of rape occurred during the 2 year time period that I lived there. There is a forest area near the parking lot (where everyone has to park as there are no garages) and at night vagrants can be found hiding in it. Incidences also occurred in people's units during the time I lived there.

The neighbors acknowledge one another but could not be called 'friendly'.

"quiet street in this village by-the-sea"

Extremely quiet and safe street. Neighbors don't try to meet and most keep to themselves, but you can meet people in the town -- especially at the post office where everyone needs to get their mail (as streets in Carmel-by-the-sea don't have street addresses and everyone has a post office box.) This area lends itself best to retirees and couples, as most singles become very restless here.

"Tranquility on the water"

Highly recommended, especially if you have a water view (which most units do). Mostly adults, peaceful, quiet, friendly professionals call this street their home.

"Close to everything"

Bethesda used to be a town where it was safe to walk alone at night. Now it is a city, complete with highrises, office buildings and the subway. It is no longer quiet and safe as it used to be, but overall seems safer than some other parts of the Washington Metro area. The part of this street closest to East West Highway and Bethesda-Chevy Chase high school is by far the noisiest and most 'hectic' given the proximity of these entities, but as you go down the street towards Chase Avenue it becomes much more quiet.

Neighbors pretty much keep to themselves but can be counted on most of the time if need be. The proximity to downtown and the metro is very good and convenient. Families (especially those with younger children) would do better living in the more quiet areas closer to the elementary and middle schools, as the ones for this immediate area were closed long ago.

"fine...just don't live in the buildings above the freeway"

This entire street consists of one condominium development that has both rentals and owner occupied units. The best thing about living on this street are the neighbors. Quiet, friendly professionals...not a lot of families. It is also very convenient to many things, with a shopping center with a good grocery store and drug store within easy walking distance and the beach only 2 miles away.

Some of the buildings are located just above the freeway, which causes A LOT of noise and dirt/dust. If you aren't in one of those, it is much better. Water quality seems poor compared to other areas of San Diego, but the temperature is consistent. I have lived on this street almost 10 years and never had one reason to worry about safety.
