"This may sound rude but..."

...I think Merritt is overrated. As a street with some of the highest property values in River Oaks, you might expect more from this hilly, superhighway in the middle of the neighborhood. People cut through here, and they are usually in a hurry. The houses look nice, but a few have been for sale for quite sometime, which to me is a red flag. I guess for as popular and purportedly valuable as this street is, I just expect more.

"More like Hidden Oaks - very private"

A patch of raod just off of Roberts Cut Off, in the heart of River Oaks, this double dead end is HOT real estate in this small town. People wait on lists, hound the elderly, and stake out estate sales to live on this street. Many of the homes are sold without ever going on the market. A relative of mine says that part of the appeal is beacuse of its double dead end. People don't usually drive down this road unless they know someone on the street. It makes for a very close neighborhood relationship. Everyone knows everyone and everyone knows what's going on. You'll have to decide if that's for you or not!

"Ridgmar has really stepped it up a notch"

If you have lived in the West Fort Worth area for very long, you know that Ridgmar mall was once a shell of a mall, a ghost town. These days it is thriving and so is its main front street, Alta Mere. New businesses are cropping up from Roaring Springs all the way to I-30, and there is more yet to come. There is not much housing on this stretch of the road although the cross streets have new apartments and townhomes, minutes from the mall and highway access. It has become unfortunatley congested due in part to the development. Maybe they will widen the road in front of the Wal-mart & Target...that would be nice!

"So much potential..."

The main thouroghfair of the small town of River Oaks, River Oaks Blvd. is somewhat of a letdown. It has more than its share of washaterias, cheap cafes, pawn shops, and empty store fronts. In its favor, the Boulevard promotes community pride with flags and seasonal banners and signs as well as several well established locally owned businesses. I am definitely in favor of sprucing it up a bit. It is in need of more small town charm, not low-class establishments.

"Boy are we growing"

University has long been home to TCU, Will Rogers, Botanic Gardens, and many a cultural experience. But these days we are seeing more and more renovations and building. Don't forget about the Ft Worth Zoo, Farrington Field, Trinity Park, dozens of restaraunts and a great shopping center. All the surrounding developments on 7th and Camp Bowie have really congested this area. I love it though ...there is so much to do and see in Ft Worth's great cultural district, I forgive the traffic.

"Secret Treasure of River Oaks"

Many residents would probably say that Merritt St or Club Oak are the most sought after homes in River Oaks. I think they are missing out on what Hassett has to offer. This small L shaped street connects Merritt and Barbara and was once an orchard with a large estate on the property. The homes on Hassett are well kept an slowly they are all being renovated and updated. Other than the high number of cats that roam the street this Avenue is one of my favorites.

"Beautiful homes on quiet circle"

Despite the soon to be completed natural gas drilling site, the street is a well kept treasure in this part of Fort Worth. The yards are large and manicured and the traffic is minor considering it connects with Hwy 199. You are within 10 minutes of the new development in Lake Worth and also Downtown. both ends of the circle empty to Skyline Drive, so it would not be considered a through street. If you're in the area take a look at some of these older homes, what character!

"Safe behind city hall?"

Greenbrier is a small street leading you from city hall in River Oaks to McGee Park.
This was a freak accident and it definitley does not happen all the time, but I think it is noteworthy: In the middle of the night last year a car was speeding down our street and jumped the curb into our yard. They hit our car that was in our deriveway and totaled it. I see kids playing outside a lot, I slow down, but people still continue to RACE down this street. Food for thought.

"Hooray for the Trinity River Project"

White Settlement Road has blossomed over the last year with new developments, residential and commercial, cropping up all over. The Bass family has been working to spread the beauty of downtown Fort Worth, and this street has definitley reaped the benefits. Amartments, beautiful neighboorhoods, restaurants, and a Super Target (within a block) are just a few of the things this street as to offer.

"Small neighborhood feel for bustling through street"

Skyline serves as a cut through or biway between HWY 199 and Roberts cutoff in River Oaks. The houses are mostly older, 50's style ranch homes. Over the last few years I have noticed a definite increase in curb appeal and that has definitely been reflected in the property values. Easy access to downtown as well as the the Rigmar Mall area. I love River Oaks and hope to live here for quite sometime.
