"Beautiful UES Street from the Met to the East River"

Stretching from the Metropolitan Museum ("the Met") to the East River / Carl Shurtz Park, East 82nd is the quintessential Upper East Side street in Manhattan. More quiet than major double cross-streets East 79th and East 86th. East 82nd can differ block by block (but not greatly) - from gorgeous limestone buildings just off Fifth Avenue, three- to four-story brownstones, doorman rental and co-op buildings, and walk-up apartment buildings closer to First and York Avenues with a smattering of small businesses including laundry services, pet services/dog boarding and some of the Upper East Side's best restaurants (including Zocolo/Mexican - Sundays and Mondays = 1/2 price margaritas!, Le Refuge/French and Girasole/Italian (all between Lexington and Third Avenue) as well as King's Carriage House/continental. Food can be delivered from most neighborhood restaurants (including pizza, Italian, Chinese, etc). Fresh Direct delivers groceries, dry cleaners and laundry service establishments will pick up and drop off laundry (doorman buildings). For singles, there are a lot of nightlife and bar/pub options. For families, there are preschools (mostly private) as well as public and private elementary schools, middle schools and high schools. Everything is within walking distance! Stores include Duane Reade and CVS, Barnes & Noble, several Starbucks, small European-style cafes, audio-visual stores, larger electronics/music/movie stores such as Best Buy, antique shops and framing shops, and old-fashioned soda fountain (83rd and Lexington), and hair salons/nails/spas. Five blocks from Lexington and 82nd to the local # 6 station at East 77th Street and just four blocks to the 86th St local/express station for # 4/5 uptown (to Wall St) or downtown (to West 125th).

johnnyhifi Hildor, I agree, loved reading your review. Must be some of the most expensive real estate in the world. What would average house prices in this street?
