This little alley runs only one block, from Dolores to Church, and has beautiful old homes along one side. The other side is populated with an elementary school playground and the only cemetary still in San Francisco's city limits: Mission Dolores's historic churchyard! Because it's so short and narrow (only one car can use the street at a time, and there's no parking at all), this street is remarkably quiet for the neighborhood.

The neighborhood itself is wonderful: Chula right on the border of the Mission and Castro districts, and only half a block from the 16th Street corridor with all its shops, restaurants and clubs. Also, Chula is only one and a half blocks from Dolores Park, perfect for enjoying that sunny Mission DIstrict weather! Only steps to the J Muni line, four and a half blocks to 16th Street BART, and about three blocks to the Church Street Muni station, this spot is incredibly easy for commuting to downtown or the East Bay. As mentioned above, though, there's really no parking on the street, and the surrounding area is notoriously bad for parking... best to buy your monthly Muni pass and ride the rails...

Overall, this is my favorite of the five spots I've lived in the City -- best access to nightlife, easiest commute to work, quietest home for sanctuary and best proximity to parklife... What more could one ask for?
