"Commercial street with a few apartment buildings"

Cordell Avenue is 90% commercial as are the surrounding streets. The only residential are high rise apartments like Southern Towers. Restaurants, including many of the best in the DC metro area, are within walking distance as are health clubs and the Metro. It is pricey and noisy to live here - but the restaurants, night life and Metro are the benefits.

"Great Street in Northern Virginia Neighborhood"

Light Infantry is in the Signal Hill neighborhood of Burke. It is a great neighborhood lined with trees and located close to Washington DC. Many people in the neighborhood commute into DC each day using either Metro (10-15 minutes away) or the VRE Commuter Rail (5 minutes away - you are close enough to walk, but there is no way to cross the tracks). The schools are great - Lake Braddock Middle and High School and Ravensworth for Elementary (Elementary school is a bit far away). Light Infantry is off the main traffic path and is a very quiet street. There is a large nearby tower with a flashing white light beacon on the top. Depending on the angle of the house and window locations this can be a bit annoying.

"Quiet Street in Great Neighborhood and close to Public facilities"

Advantage Court is a great spot in Burke. It is walking distance to the public library, middle school, high school and a small shopping center. The homes are really nice and some of the biggest and newest in this well developed area. The only down side is being close to the high school - around 6 times a year you really hear the football games. The High School is one of the top 100 high schools in the country.

"Great neighborhood but most heavily traveled road in the neighborhood"

Commonwealth runs through the entire Kings Park West neighborhoo - it is the a suburban/side street but is the major artery through the neighborhood for buses. It is close to all schools - Elementary, Middle, High and even George Mason University. It is an especially great area for families with kids. While it is close to a college campus the few college hangouts are on the far side of campus. Commuting downtown can be slow due to traffic on Braddock road - the main artery out of this part of town. There is a neighborhood pool (membership fees) and a very active neighborhood association.

"Great rental neighborhood in Alexandria"

Most of North Howard Street is part of the Foxchase Apartment community, which is one of the best maintained communities in the area. I lived there in the 80s and know people who have lived there in early decade since then. The apartments are well maintained, their is a pool and exercise facilities in the community. There is bus service to a metro station. Hopefully you won't need it, but Alexandria Hospital is right down the street.

"Older Town Homes - Convenient to DC"

Ripley Street is lined with older rental town homes. They are affordable, given the standards of the DC area, but are smaller than most other town homes in the area. The street is very close to 395 which means traffic noise and pollution. On the flip side, this is an excellent location to commute to DC from. There is shopping nearby at the Landmark mall and strip shopping centers along Van Dorn street.

"Convenient Townhouse Community"

Hydrangea Drive is in a townhouse community. It is a mixture of resident-owned and rental townhouses. Each townhouse has a parking spot and there s usually enough parking. There are two metro stops nearby and buses from the neighborhood to the Van Dorn Metro. Plenty of shopping nearby in Kingstowne. The neighborhood has little traffic but the nearby major cross streets are quite busy.

"Great Neighborhoods in Metropolitan DCs"

Parliament Drive runs through two neighborhoods in Northern Virginia. Half of Parliament Drive runs through Kings Park (Springfield) and half runs through Signal Hill (Burke). Both are great neighborhoods lined with trees and are located close to Washington DC. Many people in the neighborhood commute into DC each day using either Metro (10-15 minutes away) or the VRE Commuter Rail (5 minutes away). There is a neighborhood pool (membership fees) at the end of Parliament Drive in Springfield. The schools are great - Lake Braddock Middle and High School for the whole street and different elementary schools depending on exact location.
