"Good place to live, rent or buy, especially for a family"

Appomattox is of course where surrender of the Civil War was signed. The city itself has a small population, around 1700. However, the county has a population of approximately 20,000. The schools here are good and score well on testing. There is no nightlife to speak of. This is a small, rural town. The real estate is still priced well. The much larger city of Lynchburg is just 25 minutes away. There are several restaurants in Appomattox, from fast food to sit down. Nothing extravagant. In fact, Huddle House is open 24 hours. This is a wonderful place to raise kids. Wide open spaces. Lots of farms here as well. Very cute 'historical' downtown area with lots of antique shops. And of course, a visit to the original courthouse is a must!
