"Peaceful, small city living"

Boise lacks big city problems like traffic and severe crime. It also is lower in museum selection, nightlife, and secondary education. However, Boise offers spectacular outdoor activities for kayaking, rafting, skiing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, hunting, etc. The green belt along the river, the many large parks, and the foothills around the city provide plenty of places to relax and enjoy the outdoors, even if you live in an apartment. Boise is great for families, professionals and retired people. The culture is rather traditional and conservative, but there is some diversity and it is a peaceful place. Schools are pretty good but like most places, some are way better than others. Boise area offers rural areas, suburban and a sort of urban environment. We have lived all over the US and in other countries but have raised our family in only 2 places. After 10 years here, I can't imagine living elsewhere. Public transportation stinks but other than that, it is wonderful.
