"Great Island to live in, population doubles in Winter"

Fort Myers Beach is a friendly small island located along the Gulf Of Mexico. Its major island, Estero, smack along the gulf Of Mexico, is 7 miles long by 3/4 miles wide at the most, has long been a fixture along the coast of Southwest Florida.
Its beach is well known for being one of the safest in Florida and is as long as the island. Its population doubles from just over 5,000 in the off season to over 10,000 in winter. So I would recommend biking, using a moped from January to mid April.
It has a renowned mid school system called Bay Oaks, and of course all the amenities one could imagine on a Florida island, as restaurants, 2 food center, one being a Publix, stores, tennis courts, many canals and marinas and a long list of hotels, a pubic pool, a very generous recreation areas at Bay Oaks with pool, baseball park, tennis and famed Park at Lover's Key.
For the area the rent is on average higher then Fort Myers but still affordable. Buying a home or a condo on the island is also more expensive. On the other side investors have done very well renting their properties, specially during the season. As in many areas of SWFL, there are still many deals to be made here.
Residents are pretty lay back and friendly. The island is situated some 26 miles to Naples on the North and borders South Forth Myers along the North.
Because the Island is quite narrow, most everyone can just walk to the beach. This is abig plus, though I could do without these pesky meters.
The philosophy of the island is to be part resort and part island for residents. Its a great place to live in.

"Madison St, Fort Myers Beach has much charm and appeal"

I have lived in Fort Myers Beach since 1999 and Madison st is a quite street in Fort Myers Beach. There are not any bad streets in 7 miles long Fort Myers Beach. Some have better neighbors, canals and owners/ renters who show more pride in their homes. There is nothing exravagant about Madison st..Its a clean island street. What I found most appealing were the neighbors. Depending if you are at the start of the street or the end, you are either one mn to the beach or 8 mn to the beach.By foot.
The center of town is only about 5 mn drive or less going north, there is a Publix about 5 mn south, and a clinic near by.
Elementary School , Bay Oaks has a terrific reputation and one of the best in the county.

"Fairweather Lane is moving up"

When my wife and I moved to Fairweather Lane in 1999, Faiweather Lane was just an average street in Fort Myers Beach. It has a good spirit among renters and owners and the homes have been remodeled and the lanscaping upgraded. That is why its a good home value. Quite afew of the owners have been there over 7 years and there is an easy going feeling about the street. That is why this street is a good value. It has deals.
Bay Oaks is just less then 5 mn away, Tops the supermarket is also only 3 mn away, and downtown is one mile away with many restaurants, pubs and fun places to go in between. Publix is a few miles down south.A Clinique is a few miles south and a very good hospital, Health Park, is 6 miles away in Fort Myers.
Homes vary from the old Florida type like mine to ranch homes, to newer homes on pillings, to an attarctive renovated rental on the right of 2 stories, to land and pool home on the Bay side.
There are quite afew families here with young kids and a mix or retirees and everything in between. Many have cats and dogs and talk to each others while walking them. The beach is from one mn to 7 mn by foot. There is a street watch and people are quite polite on this street. A good place to live.
