"Watch out for unscrupulous landlords"

East Allegheny Avenue has changed greatly over the years; drugs and crime are rampant, especially Allegheny between Kensington and Aramingo. However, the other side, Allegheny between Aramingo and Richmond is becoming worse. Some landlords (all along East Allegheny) do not want to fix up their properties and will rent to anyone with the cash; there are also landlords who try to take advantage of their tenants. High rents charged are not worth it. Yes, supermarkets, Kmart, Target, and so on, but, really, there are many other places to live. Watch your purse, wallet, etc.

"Going downhill fast"

Richmond Street (3100, 3000, 2900) is a blend of private homes, businesses - and - apartments. Really seedy these days; vacant properties abound; rents high for aparments that are just not worth it.

Shady characters abound; the usual story of drug users, prostitutes, and drug dealers - they are not as apparent (yet) as some other streets in the 19134 zip, but, never worry, it's getting there. There is even a peeping tom around, so keep your curtains drawn, blinds closed, especially at night.

"Great place for drug users and dealers"

This is a terrible place to live; drugs and filth are everywhere. Trash up and down the block - much of it dumped by the people who live there. In the summertime, dealers even sell drugs with their babies right there. Very noisy at times with loud music; drugs involved in much of the life there. Some local businesses even involved.

People are only friendly if you are involved in the local drug culture. So many dealers, the police coudn't keep up if they tried. If you are not involved in drugs, you'd better consider moving, because each and every time Blue shows up, you'll get the blame for it, whether or not you called the police. One of the meanest streets I've ever seen. I lived there for years, but had to leave because they used to harass us by throwing garbage with maggots and roaches on the steps and pavement, flash lights in the house, blast "music" right out in front of our house, sit on our steps blocking the doorway, follow us, walk up and stare in our faces, etc. They didn't want us there because we are not involved in drugs. We're not happy where we are (activity here also, but not as bad yet), but are glad to be off this street - what a nasty bunch of people. Watch out for ponytail dudes!!

"Stay off this street"

Another crime and drug-ridden street bordered by the notorious Jasper Street and Kensington Avenue. Real shame for the few people left not involved in this nonsense; it makes life difficult for normal people. Really, really watch yourself if you must pass through; assaults, etc., are very common in this area.

"Now a revolting little street"

Many years ago, this wasn't a bad street, but nowadays, it is really horrible. It is trash-ridden and is now becoming just another street for people who want to "hang out," sell drugs, etc. Almost as bad as Jasper now; watch your back is all I can say.

"Just perfect for blightlife"

Willard Street is a very nasty place to pass through - filthy, crime-ridden, drug-infested. Many of the people here do not care about much except where their next batch of crack, etc., is coming from. Watch yourself if you have to pass through here; consider yourself lucky if you make it through unscathed. But, most especially, do be wary of those "bad apples" from around on Jasper - they can and will do anything to anyone at anytime.

"If you like being assaulted, this is the place to be"

Kensington Avenue was a thriving area many years ago; now it is just a place that has pawn shops, drug dens, etc. Stay off the 3100 block especially, unless you enjoy getting robbed, beaten, etc. If you are a doper, you'll be able to buy anything you want on Kensington Ave. Of course, you can go one block over to Jasper Street, and you'll be able to do the same. Ugh, nothing but a cesspool.
