"Bringing some of "Hollywood" to Hollywood Beach"

I read a review on here about Diplomat Parkway being a very prestigious street. Although I don't disagree I'm not sure if the person writing that knows the real history of this street and area. The original owners of the Diplomat Hotel still live on Diplomat Parkway. They were often referred to as the King and Queen of Florida. They hosted parties to celebrity friends such as Frank Sinatra and Sammy Davis Jr, owned Breeder's Cup Champion Horses as well as producing Broadway shows in NY. They were a real part of Florida's glamour scene. They truly brought some of "Hollywood" to Hollywood. Other celebrities such as Sally Fields and Burt Reynolds have also taken up vacation homes on Diplomat Parkway. If you drive down the street today you will see some beautiful homes that really capture that mid-century modern architecture that you see now coming back into style. The 1960's had some unique and beautiful home designs. You will also see plenty of new construction and remodels on the street, like most areas of South Florida that are on the water. The large waterfront lots on the east side of the street are very attractive to investors, as well as the west side of the street which is on the Diplomat Country Club golf course. Diplomat is definitely a hidden gem. Hopefully all the new construction won't take away from the history and nostalgia.
