"Condos! Everyone's favorite....."

A friend of mine lives here and the house itself is decent enough. They're all pretty similar in this little complex. It's a little small but for a couple, a single parent of one, or a couple with a child (on a tight budget) you could do worse. I'm fairly sure there are fees for whatever association this complex has. Mailbox is at the curb so it'd be a little uncomfortable trying to get the mail in your robe and slippers. I've heard complaints about the neighbors on occasion being noisy or doing something unfriendly. No satellite dishes allowed.

In short, if you find a house here that fits the price range you want and you can't afford a nicer area this is suitable enough.

"Nice, with a large russian population."

I hope this doesn't sound like a bad thing (obviously it isn't) but this street has an unusually large amount of russian people living on it. Obviously a positive if you are russian although I guess it doesn't really matter otherwise unless you hate russians or would feel awkward hearing two neighbors speak to each other in russian.

It's a small street and the neighborhood is very nice. I've known a few people that grew up on the street and I'm sure they'd tell you that it's nothing special. A lovely view of the water... if you like gross water. Close to a beach!... if you enjoy rocky dirty beaches. It's near Hylan Blvd, which means bus stops and easy access to the rest of Staten Island. As I said the only notable thing about this street is that despite the fact that most of the other streets near it are only about 5-15% russian this street is easily 75%+ russian. If you want 3 cars you might have a hard time parking some days... that's about it...

"Similar to most other staten island streets, nothing special."

The most notable thing I can think of about this street is that SOME of the houses on it are significantly larger and newer than that of some of the nearby streets. It's not saying much I know but really the area itself is nice and it's fairly easy to get to a major road and thus a bus on foot. I wouldn't worry too much about being robbed or anything like that. If you want to live here just find a house that you like with an acceptable distance to a bus stop. I wouldn't bother worrying about anything else really. Plenty of restaurants a few blocks away, within walking distance, including a very nice diner and many Italian restaurants.

This whole area doesn't seem very suited to singles due to many multi-bedroom houses but if you want and can afford a house around here it doesn't really matter. Well unless you plan on accidentally bumping into the love of your life. In that case, try the park.

"Nice, run of the mill street"

Well the part of Thornycroft ave. I lived on is generally a really nice block. I mean you may get the occasional car double parked outside and once in a blue moon someone's car alarm will go off but other than that there isn't much to complain about. No matter where you are on Thornycroft ave. you'll always be near 3 of the major streets in Staten Island. Richmond ave. runs alongside it a couple blocks away and it spans the gap between Hylan blvd. and Amboy Rd. So you can easily get to the Staten Island Mall, local schools, plenty of small businesses, resturants (itailian and chinese are plentiful), bagel stores or delis, by bus and with a car despite a few stop lights you won't be making many turns to get to where you need to go. You probably won't be driving very long either.

I'd say the area is safe. I mean I've never been attacked or mugged and I've never heard of anyone in this area having a similar problem. Also it may sound a bit mean but there a lot of nice houses at the end of the block on the waterfront so I'd imagine if any houses would be robbed it would be those. The houses are pretty close together as usual for Staten Island so it's not like someone couldn't easily sneak into your house anyway. If you're friendly enough with neighbors they'll know who should and shouldn't be going into your house.

Many of the people around here have kids. The age ranges quite a lot though. As of the time of this writing there are quite a few around 8-12 years old, many are college age, also many have already moved out. Not a very large amount of teenagers at the moment. Anyway no point in rambling, if you need a street with easy access to bus stops and main roads then this street is for you. This one and the other 4 or 5 near it anyway....
