Considering moving to the area...where should we look?

We are a family with two young girls moving from Michigan to somewhere around Sugar Land/Katy/Richmond. We'd like to know where in Sugar Land is a good place to look, taking into account things for the girls to do, good schools, low crime, affordable cost of living... I am a nurse, so close-ish proximity to a hospital would also be good, but I drive a long ways to work now so it wouldn't be a big deal if it was a little further away. Anyway, lots to consider, but definitely looking for input from the locals!
