I've heard Spring is "hit or miss." Any suggestions?

I've heard Spring is "hit or miss." We're moving this summer and have two grade school aged daughters. We're looking for an affordable area with great schools and low crime. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately, the nice areas in Spring are getting hit with crime. I would avoid Spring unless you are moving closer to the Woodlands area. I've lived in Spring, The Woodlands and currently Montgomery.
