Is Red Oaks Mill a welcoming hamlet with an inviting community?

I would generally say yes, but I do have a caveat. For those living on main roads like Vassar Road, Spackenkill Road, or Route 376, there are houses, but I wouldn't really say you're in much of a neighborhood. These are very busy roads with no sidewalks, so going across the street to the (sometimes a little spread-out) houses to see your neighbors is often an exercise in taking your life into your own hands. On the side streets it's definitely more closely-knit and they're the kind of neighborhoods where you'll see the kids playing in the streets without causing much of a bother and neighbors walking their dogs and saying hello to one another. If you're on the big roads you don't get that quite so much, but on the side streets you do get more of that welcome, neighborly feeling.
