I want to open a restaurant, will I find a large enough population to succeed?

Yes, you'll definitely find consumers around here if you've got the right business model and a good location. As I've mentioned elsewhere, Vassar College runs a big chunk of Arlington and the area near it has a bunch of restaurants of all different types. Some of these places do pretty good business, both from the college students and the general population of the area.
