Living in the Outer Mission neighborhood in San Francisco has its pros and cons:

Pros:
Its relatively affordable.
You are really close to the BART station.
The houses are small but relatively attractive in an old fashion sort of way.
There are good dives on Mission.
It is good for couples where one goes to SFSU and the other needs to go to work in Downtown. Its about equidistant.

Cons:
There is high crime in the area.
It is a bit out of the way.
Its got the freeway right close by.
