Long Traffic Lights

I don't know about the rest of you but when I drive (which is seldom now since I do not own a car, unless I rent a Zipcar), or ride in a cab, or ride in someone else,s car, there is one thing I notice about traffic lights. Some of them are long in turning. I notice that avenue traffic lights take longer to turn than street traffic lights. Does anyone see this, or is it just me.
