Cops at Intersections

When I travel about through Manhattan, I notice sometimes that cops are located at certain intersections to guide traffic. I watch them as they do their jobs in keeping traffic going and helping pedestrians getting across the street.

I spoke to one cop when he was just standing there waiting for the light to turn and he was rather pleasant, although short.

Have you spoken to any cop or have you seen them around, working to control intersections?
