Broken Token Machines in Buses

I don't know about the rest of you, but when I get into a bus and the token machine (the device that takes metrocards and change) is broken I am happy to note I get a free ride. I know the free ride will cost the MTA money, but hey, we as New Yorkers deserve a break now and then.

Do you ever get on a bus and find the card machine (if that is what it is called) is broken?

@hhusted I have often experienced this ( most recently on an M31 bus) and like am happy to avail of a free ride. However whenever a token machine has overcharged me and deducted a fare in place of a transfer I have always called the MTA at 1-212-METROCARD (1-212-638-7622) to complain. They usually ask for all the relevant details and then refund you by mailing you a single ride metro card.
