What is parking like in Marina, San Francisco?

Parking in general in San Francisco is no picnic. If you can avoid driving a car in the city I always would (public transportation is fantastic here!), but if you have to drive, the Marina can be a tricky place to park. While during meter hours it isn't too difficult to find close parking to where you're going (Marina Blvd, Chestnut, Union), if you're looking for a free spot or anything after 6pm, I would leave an extra 10 minutes early to find parking. Not impossible like some other areas of the city, but not easy.
