The MTA outlines its 2011 agenda

I know some L stations that could use a good scrub down! Luckily (well, depending on how you look at it) the closest station to me is an elevated one, and the elements tend to clean it up for us.

I'm interested to know what this new traffic signal system consists of. There is nothing worse than being stuck behind a bus when you're driving. And if I only had a quarter for every time a bus pulled out of the stop and into the lane I was driving in, without really seeming to care if they hit me or not. I guess we are all just supposed to brake for buses.

@BroadwayBK the new traffic signal system seems to be for only the select bus service the M15 which operates along first and second avenues in Manhattan so hopefully you shouldn't be affected much. Here's some information

@BroadwayBK: I read somewhere that MTA buses have the right of way no matter where they are in traffic. So if you are in the bus lane, and you are stopped, that's on you, as you are not supposed to be in that lane anyway, unless the cop directs you to that lane. On the other hand, if there is no bus lane and the bus does stop and you are behind it, you have the choice to go around the bus the minute it stops, or wait till it pulls off.

If you drive down a busy avenue or street like 34th, you may just find that cars won't wait for the bus. Once the bus stops, they go around it.

@hhusted If a bus is pulled over to let people on/off and you are in the process of passing them when they begin to pull into your lane, they could easily take out your car - and they do it all the time. I'm not talking about being in the bus lane. I'm talking about driving in the lane that everyone drives in. I've never seen a bus lane in Brooklyn, actually - so this is a problem I've dealt with a lot. And I'm well aware that no car in this city waits for any man - they all go around any stopped vehicle.

@BroadwayBK: Oh, you are talking about Brooklyn. Well, I have no knowledge of how buses work in your neck of the woods. I was mainly talking about here in the city. And if the bus pulls over, and you go around it immediately, you won't get hit. At least if you speed around it once it pulls over.
