I'm going to visit Manhattan NYC, my husband and I will be there for 11 nights.

I'm wondering if I made the right choice, we are renting an apartment in east side on of Manhattan NYC. The apartment in located on 14th street between 1st and 2nd. Is it a safe area? I'm wondering about the subways also if safe at night. Any information or advise is well appreciated.
