I will be moving to Madison, MS, which areas do you recommend living in?

I want to keep rent lowish, but also don't want to live in the wrong part of town. Apartments and rental houses are what I am considering. I don't have to live in Madison but that is where I'll be working so would want to live within 30 minute commute.
