What about the crime in Indianapolis?

As is often the answer, it depends on the area. The great majority of violent crimes in Indianapolis occur in two areas: just west of downtown between Troy and Washington St., and just east of downtown/I-65 between Washington and 34th St. Oddly enough, downtown proper is actually a pretty safe place to roam around, even at night. Virtually all of the suburbs can be considered quite safe. Here's a link to a map:
